I know it was wrong and I'm sorry... It just had to be done. I've stopped doing it now but when I used to do a lot of DJ work, I had to make sure "Celebration" was always in the crate or I'd be beheaded. The sentiment has always sounded forced and the excitement is producer-created. Bleck!

My fave song of them is Brick Hous!!
"Easy" really is a great song. My personal favorite of theirs is "Lady, You Bring Me Up". Love the chord changes in the chorus.

... difficult decision But I'm leaning towards The Commodores, too. Kool and The Gang are fantastic, though. No doubt about it. The Commodores had the better material, imo.
(I might change my mind tomorrow)

That is understandable both groups made great music. For me I still "can't get enough of that Funky stuff"

"Celebration"'s credits should read like this:

Music by Ronald "Kool" Bell

 Couldn't have said it better.
With regard to the Commodores, I was never crazy about the radio (crossover) hits. "Sweet Love" and "Just To Be Close To You" were good, but songs like "Painted Picture" and "Zoom" have great instrumentation and not bad lyrics. I agree with Ed though, the Commodores lost it when Lionel Ritchie left, but then so did he.

Hands down, If you are talking about Kool and The Gang circa 1969-1975. Nothing is touching the first Kool and The Gang album from 1969.
After that period you are dealing with the JT Taylor years and that was never my cup of tea.
