Poor guy...
Chris Brown Pleads With Fans To Help Revive His Career
Sad news is in abundance this week, starting with the former prince of pop Chris Brown. Brown, who has been vying for a way to revitalize his career following his 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, has resorted to desperate measures to stage his comeback.
The 20-year-old singer-dancer, who plead guilty to felony assault and is on probation for five years, recorded an audio message Wednesday on Say Now asking his fans to "bring [him] back." A humbled Brown said he needs his fans' help. "Some radio stations aren't playing my records," he said. "They're not being that supportive and I wouldn't expect them to. But it's on the fans...It's in your power to bring me back."
Brown said he is doing everything he can do. He refers to himself as a "better person" and said he is doing his music for the love, but added that his career is in jeopardy.
"It won't be possible for me to be an artist if I don't have support from people who give me an artist outlet," Brown said. "I can't be an underground mixtape artist."
Brown sounds stressed out. After releasing two previously successful albums, it has got to be tough experiencing such a decline in support for his current album, Graffiti.
His 2005 self-titled debut is double platinum. His 2007 follow-up, Exclusive, is platinum. Both albums yielded a slew of gold, platinum, and double platinum singles. Brown's post-altercation Graffiti still has not achieved gold status for album or single. Neither album nor singles, "I Can Transform Ya" or "Crawl," are on the pop charts. Though Graffiti is No. 34 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
I know it's been a year since the incident, he has accepted his sentence, and was previously praised by the judge for following through with his community service, but he needs to relax. It is going to take some time for him to repair his reputation. He needs to be patient. He just re-emerged on Twitter at @ChrisBrown and is keeping it positive so far. He Tweeted about reading to 3rd grade students at a school in Harlem. This feels like a better plan. Releasing a new album just eight months after the altercation was just too soon.
I do feel bad about one thing: that my violin's in the shop. My solution will be to remove the "C" and "B" keys off my keyboard and throw them into a wishing well. I cry for you, Chris. Really.

 Lol @ Ed!
I suppose he's got a nice nest egg somewhere after all the money he made so far and will not starve. This "plead" will not further his cause, imo. He should have waited until things have settled and then come out with a smash album. I bet his fans would welcome him back with open arms. But begging his fans to support him? No way.

So it's come to this, not a good look. Even Millie Vanilla didn't ask their fans to come back. It's evident his career is over and I have no clue what can get him back on track.

Heh Ed, yeah really. Brown had a great reputation and oddly enough abusing your girlfriend just tarnishes a "nice guy" image. I wish I would buy that record especially after that fool was begging people to do so.

Don't get me wrong please, but how much punishment is enough? I certainly don't condone abuse in any form. But it happens, and if a person has been punished for the transgression, he/she should be able to go on with live as usual after a while. I do think this incident has been exaggerated ...

Quiet as kept, I really think what is going on is that Chris only had about 5 minutes of his 15 minutes of fame left. This situation only sped it up. No disrespect to Chris, but he's a fly by night artist in the music business. He can easily be replaced in his particular field.
This is different from people like Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, etc... These men (although fell from grace for some period) were vital to their fields of entertainment. They generated or generate the most money and attention in each of their sports, so they always have a chance to return. Chris does not or never generated that much interest.
When Mike Tyson went to jail for alleged rape everybody threw him under the bus. The 3 years he was in prison boxing took an enormous hit financially. So when he came out within weeks it seems MGM grand gave him a $50 million first fight deal and MGM grand tickets to see him sold out in no time. Nobody generated the money Mike did when he was in prison.
The same thing with Tiger right now. I saw on the news with Tiger being injured last year golf lost $500 million dollars. He has the sport of golf in his hands so they can never get rid of him no matter what trouble he get's into. Chris Brown doesn't have that luxury at this moment.

I concur. He may have had less than the 5 minutes left, hooking up with Rihanna probably gave him a few more minutes. He is in a crowded field of the same-sounding nasal-voiced tenors that really need autotune to survive.
DC you have hit the nail on the head!!!

He's 20 years old. Just take the money you made, go to college. Get a real life going and forget begging for your career back. Just consider yourself lucky you manage to get the record sales that you did.
The dude was basiclly a Modern day Ike Turner without Ike's talent. Neither him or his ex girlfriend is talented and how long will her "career" last before the general public get bored like they usually do with these clones? I just hoped he saved his money.
